“The Shakuhachi Maker Performs”

Three time winner in the 2023 American Art Awards Competition. This is a digital painting featuring my good friend who is a professional shakuhachi maker. It's created just like an oil painting - studies from multiple references, toning the canvas, drawing, grisaille painting, and then color glazes - except created in a digital medium. This is my seventh digital painting ever, and it's my second time using color glazing rather than directly painting in color.
